Earlier the king cross area was a small village. It was well-known as a "battle bridge" In 1830, the memorial of King George IV was constructed at the Bentonville road, new road, and grays inn road junction. This junction later became famous as an "Easton road" The monument of King George IV is approximately 60 feet high. People describe this monument as a "ludicrous octagonal structure" In 1845, this unpopular structure was demolished completely.
